Moggs has many famous sports stars.

Perhaps the best known is Patrick Dangerfield. Patrick is an elite Australian Rules footballer who toured South Africa with the Australian junior team in 2007.

The photograph of Vince Maskell scoring his 300th run during the Moggs 250 memorial match against Geelong shows this brilliant batsman at his best. Moggs won the match easily and was thus awarded the much sought after Sir Sam Medal.

You will notice that Vince is wearing his Moggs cricketing cap. You will observe that there are no actual wickets or off-side fieldsmen. Despite these difficulties Vince was able to amass a most respectable score.

Low-tide cricket matches have been played on the beach at Moggs since 1759. These New Year's Day matches have seen some remarkable contests between the sports men and women of Moggs Creek and all those who would take us on. The Sir Samuel Moggs Foundation hopes that these classic matches will resume.

Many will remember that in 1959 anyone who hit a six had to provide drinks all-round, in 1960 children under the age of two were not permitted to play-on after they had scored 100 runs, in 1964 dogs were allowed to run for aged or injured competitors.

Fortunately such arbitary rules are no longer contemplated.
